Brick-and-mortar (B&M) stores across Beijing held themed events during the May Day holiday to drive consumer activity.
At Wangfujing, the iconic shopping street in downtown Beijing, a fashion show was held to exhibit "Chinese-chic," a trend that advocates Chinese traditional styles and domestic brands.
Longfu Temple, a landmark in the city, held a fair with more than a hundred retail brands catering to young people and youth culture. The fair resembled a flea market, with visitors enjoying the foods and sights while browsing the vendors lining the alleys of the temple.
A 236-meter-long public art space in Parkview Green Fangcaodi featured vinyl records that invited visitors to pick up and listen, and to take plenty of pictures. The shopping mall also held cultural events that provided immersive experiences and promoted consumer spending.
Xidan Cultural Square was transformed into a park, with commercial areas set up underground. The square featured a range of consumer activities, including food, culture, art, and lifestyle.
