Beijing's Shunyi district has added 3,523 companies since the 28.5-square-meter area surrounding the Beijing Capital International Airport began to take on international business service functions at the end of last September, in a bid to support the municipality's construction of its pilot free trade zone.

Among the new companies, 733 were registered in the first quarter of 2021, fulfilling approximately 29% of the city's target for the year.

The district opened a window at its government service center to help companies with administrative procedures, and to support Beijing's construction of the pilot free trade zone and the national integrated demonstration zone for expanding opening up of the service sector, known as the "two zones." The staff at the service center can get real-time access to 28 local government departments via video calls.

Shunyi has completed 61 out of the 85 (71%) district-level tasks for the construction of the two zones.
