A total of 102 deals worth 228.5 billion yuan (35.5 billion U.S. dollars) were signed at the third Western China International Fair for Investment and Trade (WCIFIT), organizers said.

The contracts signed were mostly in the areas of smart manufacturing, high-end equipment manufacturing, public facilities, bio-pharmaceuticals, clean energy, and culture and tourism, according to the organizing committee.

The third WCIFIT is taking place in Chongqing and will last four days, from Thursday to Sunday.

This year's trade fair features eight themed exhibition halls and more than 100 events to promote investment and cooperation between enterprises.
