Sales of new-energy passenger vehicles rev up in China

China's new-energy passenger vehicle sales soared in June, industry data showed.

The retail sales of new-energy passenger cars totaled 223,000 units in June, up 169.9 percent year on year and rising 19.2 percent from May, according to data by the China Passenger Car Association.

The wholesale volume of new-energy passenger vehicles grew 165.7 percent year on year to 227,000 units in June.

BYD, Shanghai General Motors Wuling, Tesla China and GAC Aion reported new-energy passenger vehicle sales that exceeded 10,000 units last month, topping the sales list.

Data by the association also showed that retail sales of passenger vehicles in China dipped 5.1 percent year on year to about 1.58 million units last month.
