Zigong city in southwest China's Sichuan province and Shanghai's Kunshan city signed an agreement on Wednesday to map out further cooperation in the fields of industry, industrial parks, culture, tourism, and talent exchanges.

High-tech zones in the two cities also agreed to jointly build an industrial park. The move is expected to deepen cooperation between the two cities and better contribute to the development of Yangtze River Economic Belt, the integration of Yangtze River Delta, and the building of the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle.

According to the agreement, high-tech zones in the two cities will join hands to optimize their industrial layouts, improve their business environments, set up a sci-tech innovation platform, promote sci-tech achievements, and boost talent exchanges.

A cross-regional industrial collaboration model and a new type of interest-sharing mechanism will also be established to better serve the coordinated growth of the two cities.

The total area of the cooperative industrial park of the two parties will exceed 1million square meters by 2025. Leading industries of high-tech zones in Kunshan, such as smart manufacturing, electronics, and advanced materials, will strive to increase their market share in Chengdu and Chongqing. Meanwhile, mold making, machining, and other general manufacturing industries in Kunshan will be relocated to Zigong High-tech Zone and form new industrial clusters.

In addition, the two cities also plan to establish an institutional cooperative mechanism and seek partnerships in the fields of industry, information-sharing, cultural tourism, talent communication, and labor exports.
