The "Zigong Investment Promotion & Project Cooperation Agreement Signing Ceremony", hosted by the Zigong Municipal Party Committee and the local government, was held on Wednesday at the 18th Western China International Fair in Chengdu, capital of southwest China's Sichuan province.

New opportunities to develop, transform and upgrade Zigong and the city's new opening-up measures, were presented to investors at the conference, including representatives from China Telecom, China Electronics Corporation, Siemens and other Fortune Global 500 companies, as well as more than 160 entrepreneurs from all over the country.

At the conference, 36 projects were successfully agreed and signed, covering various fields including new energy, new materials, route construction and digital industry. Among the projects, 19 of them belonged to secondary industry, with 16 and 1 in the tertiary and primary industries, respectively.

More specifically, projects agreed included establishing a 5G innovation and application industrial park; jointly contributing to the new land-sea transit routes for the western region's integrated industrial development; advancing the development of digital city services and the digital economy; and building an intelligent manufacturing and digital economy base for the area of southern Sichuan and western Chongqing.

In addition, a project to build Sichuan's first photovoltaic (PV) module production base – with an annual production capacity of 3GW PV modules – will receive a total investment of 2 billion yuan and be completed in two phases. This will enable Sichuan to produce its own PV modules and upgrade its new energy industrial chain.

Another $150 million will be invested in establishing an R&D and production center for special carbon and graphite products for civil use, which will cover an area of 17 hectares.

One billion yuan will be invested in building a regional headquarters and production base for Guangdong Huate Gas Co. Ltd., a gas products provider. The project will cover an area of about 13 hectares. Upon being put into operation, the program is expected to generate an annual output value of 980 million yuan, an annual tax revenue of 52.8 million yuan, and provide about 200 jobs.
