When the 18th Western China International Fair (WCIF) opened Sept. 16, a colorful lantern dubbed "The Tree of Life" at Zigong Pavilion became the biggest highlight, attracting droves of visitors eager to pose for photos with it.

The impressive installation stands 5.5 meters tall, and features a blinking face. Likewise, the lantern serves as a reminder to protect the earth.

Aside from Chengdu, Zigong was the only prefecture-level city in Sichuan province to exhibit in the Belt and Road International Cooperation Hall.

The theme of Zigong Pavilion is "Zigong: Seizing the Opportunities and Setting out Again in the New Era." With an area of 1,575 square meters, it is the largest pavilion of any WCIF, past or present. It is located at the Belt and Road International Cooperation Hall, in the No. 4 Hall of the Western China International Expo City.

The venue's design is open-concept, with an ice-blue and green palette that represents the city's industrial development. The exhibition was divided into three parts: opening up and cooperation, four signatures of the city, and the construction of the economic circle in Chengdu and Chongqing.

Zigong boasts the former residence of Sister Jiang, an underground member of the Communist Party of China and revolutionary martyr. What's more, it is also home to the historic well-salt culture, dinosaur ruins, and lantern crafts. At Zigong Pavilion, visitors can enjoy these iconic features of the city, while also learning about its thriving modern industries. Today, Zigong serves as the National Cultural Export Base, the National Backbone Cold Chain Logistics Base, and the National Civil Unmanned Aviation Test Area.

The exhibition is a testament to Zigong's innovative spirit and continued development. In this new era, Zigong is striving to become a model city that reflects the nation's deepening domestic reforms and strengthening global policies.
