The Beijing Municipal Commission of Development and Reform announced on Monday that the city plans to focus on the adoption of nine green technologies in a bid to meet China's dual carbon reduction goals.

These technologies include wind power, hydrogen energy, new energy vehicles (NEVs), low-power semiconductors and communication, photovoltaics (PV), carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS), nearly zero-energy buildings (NZEB), resource recycling, and low-carbon housing.

According to the city's latest policies on green technologies, Beijing will also provide relevant support and ramp-up tech innovation to prevent air pollution, plastic pollution and food waste.

Regarding plastic pollution specifically, the city plans to make additional efforts into the research and development of biodegradable plastics, accelerate the commercialization of sci-tech achievements, and promote the adoption of pollution-control products.

Starting this week, the municipal government will collect innovative green tech solutions across the city. In addition to the technologies mentioned above, the collection campaign, which will conclude on Nov. 8, is also seeking solutions for water conservation, solid waste management, soil remediation, and green and smart transport, to name a few.

The municipal government will also work on updating its reference list for innovative green technologies. Technologies that make the list will receive favorable supporting policies and financial resources in a bid to speed up the implementation process.

Looking forward, Beijing will continue to improve relevant policies and provide a market-oriented and supportive policy environment for green tech companies.
