Beijing's foreign trade totaled 2.48 trillion yuan (US$388.4 billion) in the first 10 months of 2021, surpassing the whole of last year of 2.33 trillion yuan, according to data from Beijing Customs. The figure marks an increase of 29% over the same period last year, and is 6.8 percentage points higher than the growth rate for the whole country during the same period.
Beijing's trade with major trade partners continued to grow during the period, with the EU remaining the largest trade partner, followed by the ASEAN, the U.S., Australia, and Saudi Arabia.
In the first 10 months, Beijing's imports totaled 1.97 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 28.7%. Specifically, crude oil, automobiles, agricultural products, natural gas, and iron ores were the top five major imported goods, accounting for 68.3% of the city's total imports.
During this period, Beijing's exports totaled 510.49 billion yuan in value, up 30.2% year on year. In terms of major exported goods, refined oil, mobile phones, medical and pharmaceutical products, integrated circuits, and steel took up 57.3% of the city's total exports.
