Beijing is providing complete 5G coverage for areas inside its 5th Ring Road and at its sub-center, according to a report deliberated during a meeting of the Standing Committee of Beijing Municipal People's Congress on Thursday. 

By September, Beijing had built 47,000 5G base stations, making the number of 5G bases stations per 10,000 people the highest across China. About 32.4% of all mobile network users had adopted 5G. 

This came as a result of the city's continued investment in new infrastructure investment. Through September this year, Beijing's fixed-asset investment in new infrastructure reached 54.08 billion yuan, which accounted for 9.2% of its total investment and contributed 2.4 percentage points to the city’s total investment increase. 

The Chinese capital plans to establish more than 30 exemplary smart city projects in the next two or three years, and to build more application scenarios and platforms in this regard.
