Beijing launched a new round of digital renminbi pilot program on Friday, focusing on consumer spending, according to the Beijing Local Financial Supervision and Administration. 

This pilot program will hand out digital currency to consumers in the city through envelopes and coupons, covering various use scenarios such like storefront shopping, public transportation, postal delivery, and so on. Discounts will be offered to consumers to encourage the use of the digital currency. 

A number of commercial banks in Beijing will take part in the distribution of digital RMB and launch activities to promote their digital-yuan wallets. 

Consumers will be allowed to participate in multiple activities and fully enjoy the benefits brought by the digital RMB.
