China's surveyed urban unemployment rate stood at 5 percent in November, 0.2 percentage points lower than the same period last year, data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) showed Wednesday.

During the first 11 months of this year, the country created a total of 12.07 million new urban jobs, over-fulfilling its annual target, according to the NBS.

China's job market remained generally stable in November, NBS spokesperson Fu Linghui told a press conference, adding the average surveyed urban unemployment rate in the first 11 months stood at 5.1 percent, lower than the annual target of 5.5 percent.

Specifically, the surveyed unemployment rate among those aged between 16 and 24 came in at 14.3 percent, while the rate among those aged between 25 and 59, the majority of the labor market, stood at 4.3 percent, data showed.

The surveyed unemployment rate in 31 major cities stood at 5.1 percent in November, unchanged from that in October.

The surveyed urban unemployment rate is calculated based on the number of unemployed people who have participated in the employment survey in urban areas, including migrant workers in cities.
