Yanqing competition zone of the Beijing Winter Olympics received 30 hydrogen-powered vehicles on Wednesday, adding to Beijing's efforts of holding green Olympics.

The hydrogen fuel-cell system of the vehicles can fully refuel in 10 minutes, and the bus has a range of 630 kilometers, which is within commuting range in most cities.

With the length of 11 meters, the buses have a capacity of 46 and are equipped with comfortable seats as well as air conditioning. The vehicles are designed to be able to operate in the low temperature of minus 30 degrees Celsius in cases of extreme weather conditions in Yanqing district.

The fuel-cell systems are independently developed by Hydrogen Energy, a subsidiary of the State Power Investment Corporation.

Three drones equipped with the same fuel cell were also unveiled on Wednesday. Together with the buses, the drones will be used in inspection and guarantee of the power system during the Winter Olympics.

Another 70 hydrogen-powered buses will be delivered by the end of 2021, and altogether more than 700 such vehicles will be in service during the Winter Olympics in Yanqing and Zhangjiakou competition zones.
