The Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) Annual Conference 2022 will be hosted this spring in Boao, Hainan province; however, the exact date has not yet been set due to COVID-19, said Li Baodong, BFA secretary general, in a press conference on Jan. 12 in Beijing.

According to Li, the BFA Annual Conference 2022 will focus on the most pressing issues such as the post-pandemic economic recovery and growth issues in terms of green development, innovative development, inclusive development and collaborative development, so as to promote international solidarity and cooperation, and to drive forward the global economy and development.

Combining online and on-site formats, this year's BFA will bring together leaders and government officials of various countries including the host country China, politicians, heads of international organizations, guests from business and academia, as well as the media to discuss the post-pandemic development agenda for Asia and the world.

Li explained that the annual conference will definitely be convened this spring although the exact date has to be carefully planned with the pandemic situation taken into account.

"We should actively seize and control the post-pandemic development trend with a forward-looking perspective, despite the uncertainty as to when the pandemic will be over," he said.

He briefed the media on six main areas to be discussed at BFA 2022, namely, COVID-19 pandemic prevention, world economic recovery, green and sustainable development, digital economy, international cooperation and global governance, and Asian regional cooperation.

As a forum specializing in the economic agenda, the BFA Annual Conference will stick to economic issues and further probe into global economic trends and issues such as industrial chains and inflation, Li said.
