Beijing's trade volume surpasses 3 trillion yuan, up 30.6%

The trade volume of Beijing (including centrally administered companies in Beijing) reached 3.04 trillion yuan (US$480.97 billion) in 2021. This marked an increase of 30.6% from 2020, 9.2 percentage points higher than the national growth rate in the same period, and up 6.1% from 2019.

The municipality's trade volume crossed the thresholds of 1 trillion yuan for the first time in 2005, and 2 trillion yuan for the first time in 2010.

In 2021, its import reached 2.43 trillion yuan, up 30.4% year on year, 8.9 percentage points higher than the national growth rate; its export reached 611.85 billion yuan, up 31.2%, 10 percentage points higher than the national level.

Its 2021 import and export to the top five trading partners - the EU (excluding the U.K.), the U.S., ASEAN, Australia, and Saudi Arabia - all maintained growths, up 9.7%, 49.1%, 31.2%, 19.4%, and 43.1%, respectively.

Notably, the import and export of the city's private companies reached 290.31 billion yuan in 2021, up 29%, higher than that of private companies nationwide in the same period for the first time in five years.
