2022 MWC expected to attract up to 60,000 visitors

The 2022 edition of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) to be held in Barcelona of Spain will attract between 40,000 and 60,000 visitors, according to the estimation of the organizer of the event, GSM Association (GSMA), on Thursday.
The event, to be held from Feb. 28 to March 3, will be attended by 1,500 exhibitors from the mobile communications sector, along with participants from 150 different countries, according to the GSMA.
The event is expected to create around 6,500 temporary jobs and has an economic impact of 240 million euros for Barcelona and the surrounding region, said the organizer.
The 2022 MWC will highlight online finance technology, 5G, Artificial Intelligence, Cyber-Security, the Cloud and Climate Change, according to GSMA.
The MWC was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. In 2021, a limited-version event was held in the summer, which attracted some 20,000 visitors.
