Consumer complaints received by the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission and its local bureaus rose 3.8 percent quarter on quarter to 90,595 cases during the fourth quarter of last year.

Nearly half of the complaints were related to the credit card businesses during the period. The number of cases involving credit card service increased 1.3 percent from a quarter earlier to 44,968 cases.

The number of cases involving personal loan businesses was 29,074, up 3.7 percent from the previous quarter, while that of wealth management services stood at 3,802, a decrease of 4.2 percent.

The commission vowed to better handle these complaints and provide improved services in a bid to protect consumers' legitimate rights and interests.
