Beijing's boat tour service officially started in the Summer Palace, Beihai Park, Zizhuyuan Park, Yuyuantan Park, and Taoranting Park on March 21 amid rising temperatures. Around 1,500 boats, including pedal boats, electric boats, and dragon boats are available for the tours.
It is worth noting that the tourist boats in Taoranting Park are equipped with 5G+Beidou real-time positioning systems, which enable cloud queuing as well as the smart charge and smart control of boats.
The broadcasting system installed on the boats will immediately inform the park's control center if there is an accident or a sudden change in the weather, with speedboats carrying rescue staff then sent out.
It is the first time 5G technology has been utilized in the city's boat tour service, said Miao Xiangliu, director of the Department of Service Management of the Beijing Municipal Administration Center of Parks. The technology will be introduced to other parks in the near future.
To prevent the spread of COVID-19, all boats will be disinfected before coming into service, and the disinfection frequency will then be dependent on passenger flow. Visitors aboard medium or large-sized boats are required to wear masks.
