Beijing's GDP expands 4.8% in Q1

Beijing's GDP expanded by 4.8% to 941.34 billion yuan year on year in the first quarter, according to data released by the Municipal Bureau of Statistics on Wednesday.

The growth rate was 0.1 percentage points higher than the two-year average in 2020 and 2021.

The value added of the primary industry rose by 6.7% to reach 1.42 billion yuan, the value added of the secondary industry increased 6.2% to 131.86 billion yuan, and the tertiary industry's value added was up 4.5% to 808.07 billion yuan.

In the first quarter, the city's industrial output increased by 7.2% year on year. Specifically, The value added of high-tech manufacturing and strategic emerging industries increased by 16.8% and 14.6% year on year, respectively.

The value added of digital economy went up 7.2% to 387.36 billion yuan, accounting for 41.2% of Beijing's GDP and 0.5 percentage points higher than the same period of the previous year.
