In the face of the latest COVID-19 outbreak, the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Area, also known as Beijing E-Town, has ensured sustained production with the help of stringent epidemic prevention and control measures.

As an area with one of the highest densities of advanced technologies in the country, Beijing E-Town is home to many industry-leading companies, including the SMC Corporation. The leading pneumatics company has three factories in the Beijing E-Town.

"We cut the day shift working hours by half and reduced the number of workers at the office," said Ma Qinghai, general manager of SMC China, adding that the company required all workers to provide valid 48-hour negative nucleic acid test results to enter the offices.

Ma said that the officials of the Beijing E-Town and the relevant departments of the city rolled out measures for supporting suppliers to resume production, ensuring the normal operation of the company.

Thanks to the automated equipment, Youcare Pharmaceutical Group in Beijing E-Town has improved production efficiency, despite the number of production line workers having been cut by about a half.

According to an official in the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Area, companies in the area have tightened the management of personnel and vehicles entering and leaving the area, strictly implemented nucleic acid testing, and divided the area into different zones with restrictions on the cross-zone movement of personnel.

In order to provide enterprises with timely services, the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Area has also established an emergency management mechanism to solve key problems on a daily basis, the official said.
