The supply of daily necessities in Beijing's largest wholesale market, Xinfadi, remains sufficient, and prices are stable with the wholesale price of fruits and pork dropping steadily.
Zhang Yuxi, chairman of the Xinfadi wholesale market, said that from mid-June to mid-September, around 80% to 90% of the vegetables sold in Beijing's markets are from China's three northeastern provinces, northern Hebei province, and Shanxi province. Due to better weather conditions and increased growing areas in north China, the supply of vegetables in Xinfadi this year is sufficient and the prices are stable.
Data shows that the daily supply of vegetables in Xinfadi on June 16 stood at 17,500 metric tons. The weighted average price of vegetables was 2.96 yuan per kilogram.
Zhang said that the market supply matches the demand of citizens as some restaurants in Beijing are suspending dine-in services as required by the city's epidemic prevention and control measures.
In addition, the price of fruits and pork in Xinfadi has been dropping steadily. The daily supply of fruits in the market on June 16 stood at 11,500 metric tons. The weighted average price of fruits fell from 10.5 yuan per kilogram earlier to 9.59 yuan per kilogram on Thursday, a drop of 8.7%. The weighted price of fruits also saw a drop of 20% compared to the previous month.
The price of pork is down from 20.15 yuan per kilogram on June 15 to 19.65 yuan per kilogram on June 16.
