China's capital city Beijing has introduced a series of policies to simplify administrative procedures and make government services more efficient, accessible, and convenient.

Through the government's digitalization efforts, business registration is now available online with paperless and contactless procedures all the way from application to final approval.

From January to May, the municipal government has handled 271,400 online registration applications, accounting for 75.09% of the total number of applications in the city, of which 95.81% were related to business registrations, according to the municipal market regulation administration.

Electronic business licenses have become more widely used in multiple scenarios and have been integrated with several other government-issued certificates and permits to make business identification easier.

Until now, electronic business licenses have been used in over 20 scenarios in Beijing, including the identification and verification of a company's taxes, social security, vehicles, and bank accounts.

The city also introduced consultation services for opening up restaurants to help businesses lower compliance costs and increase efficiency in registration and applying for licenses. In the first five months of this year, a total of 8,592 catering companies have been newly registered, accounting for 7.1% of the total number of existing catering service providers.

Moreover, the municipal government relaxed certification procedures for people operating special equipment as well as the process relating to changing personnel information in inspection and testing agencies.
