Beijing had completed the construction of around 54,000 5G base stations by the end of April, which brought the base station number per 10,000 people to 25, ranking first in the country, said a municipal official Wednesday.

According to Gu Jinxu, deputy head of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology, Beijing has realized full coverage of the ultrafast network in 52 municipal-level key business areas and key scenic spots in the municipality.

In recent years, Beijing has made use of digital technologies to transform traditional business areas and provide more immersive and diverse consumer spending scenarios and experiences.

Gu said that, in the next step, the city will make solid efforts to implement key projects, facilitate key tasks, provide services to key companies, and conduct research on innovation policies to further stimulate the innovation and creativity of the digital economy.
