Beijing has taken the lead in promoting the use of electronic business licenses in the country. According to the municipal market regulator, electronic licenses have been used more than 80 million times in the city.

Over the years, Beijing has promoted the use of electronic business license in 20 types of use cases such as identification and verification of a company's taxes, social security, vehicles, and bank accounts.

To make the company registration process paperless and digital, business startups are provided with an electronic business license and a set of electronic invoices and seals for free. The license can be downloaded via scanning a QR code, and it will be provided in the form of an e-mail to startup applicants. So far, a total of 1.6 million market entities have downloaded the electronic business licenses, accounting for over 70% of the city's total.

In addition, electronic business licenses have been integrated with other government-issued certificates and permits to make business identification easier.
