The number of new charging points for electric vehicles (EVs) in China grew at a fast clip in July to meet the charging demand of the country's ballooning EV community, industrial data showed.

By the end of July, the country had about 3.98 million charging facilities, nearly double the number one year ago, according to the China Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Promotion Alliance.

Some 47,000 public charging points were added last month, the alliance said.

The number of new private charging points also surged, rising over 390 percent during the first seven months of 2022.

The fast charging facilities growth is generally in line with the country's burgeoning new energy vehicle sector, which registered a 120-percent year-on-year growth during the January-July period.
