Wucheng carpet has a long history of traditional manufacturing skills. Starting from Baijia carpet workshop in the late Qing Dynasty, the carpet was sold to temples, stages and noble families, and gradually formed a certain production scale. In 1958, in order to promote the local economic development, Wucheng County established the Wucheng Carpet Factory, that is, the predecessor of Shandong Shenlong Carpet Industry Co., Ltd.

As one of the sixth batch of Dezhou municipal intangible cultural heritage representative projects, Wucheng traditional hand knotted carpets continue the traditional process such as spinning, dyeing and finishing, pattern design, backward, weaving carpet, leveling, cutting, washing, embossing, finishing, etc. With high hand knotting density, harmonious color matching, soft and durable texture, and real patterns, the carpet can achieve the effect of "embossment-like patterns and brocade-like fabric".

Now it adopts traditional and modern, fashionable and classic design concept, combining the modern, high-tech weaving technology of tapestry with the spinning art, dyeing and finishing art, cutting art, mercerizing art, embossing art, beauty finishing art. In addition, it changes some weaving processes with Wilton weaving machine, in orderto manufacture semi-finished products that meet the performance of hand-made carpets, with other hand-made processes unchanged.

The Wucheng traditional hand-made knotted carpet is deeply affected by citizens and collectors because of their complicated production, exquisite craftsmanship, and elegant quality. The products are not only sold well to the domestic, but also exported to other countries and regions including the United States, Germany, the Middle East, etc.
