Chinese telecommunication company China Mobile International (CMI) signed on Thursday a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to advance the digital media ecosystem in Saudi Arabia.

The signing ceremony was held in the Saudi capital of Riyadh between the Chinese company and Saudi Broadcasting Authority (SBA), Saudi Cloud Computing Company (SCCC) and Whale Cloud.

Under the MoU, the parties will collaborate to provide smart digital media solutions, including digital media, data center and cloud services, said the SBA.

At the signing ceremony, the CMI showcased its digital media solutions, including TV-top boxes and applications tailored for the SBA.

SBA CEO Mohammed bin Fahad Al-Harthy highlighted SBA's commitment to building a world-class media service and content platform, utilizing the best practices in the global media industry to provide world-class digital information services.

The CMI's industry expertise, advanced technologies and rich experience will help the media industry to realize its digital transformation vision, he added.

For his part, Alex Lee, managing director of the CMI Middle East company, said that the company continues to enhance its investment in network infrastructure across the Middle East region.

Calling the SBA "an important partner," Lee said the joint project will set a benchmark for the digital transformation of the media industry, adding that "we would encourage more projects with influential social and economic benefits."

The CMI is committed to building a global technology partner ecosystem, and its cooperation with the SCCC and Whale Cloud has demonstrated that ecosystem's strength in depth, Lee added.

With its comprehensive enterprise service portfolio called iSolutions, the CMI helps enterprises navigate digital transformation and fuels their global expansion through its various services.
