Themed with "Gathering Cross-border Innovation for a Brighter Future," 2022 Beijing Intelligent Health Technology & Innovation Forum was held Thursday. Hosted by AstraZeneca, organized by Beijing International Life Science Innovation Campus (Beijing iCampus) and co-held by Equal Ocean Healthcare and Plug and Play China, the virtual forum brought together government officials, experts, leading enterprises, and professional investors in the healthcare industry from home and abroad, aiming to gather forward-looking and authoritative insights from the participants to advance Beijing's smart healthcare ecosystem.

Leon Wang, executive vice president and international and China president at AstraZeneca, noted during his speech at the forum, "As a world-leading global pharmaceutical company, AstraZeneca has been working with its partners to bring new ideas to fruition and promote greater access to healthcare. Through this forum, AstraZeneca will leverage Beijing's international industrial advantages to continue to expand its innovation ecosystem, enable the implementation of more innovative projects in Beijing, and add momentum to Beijing's smart healthcare ecosystem."

At the Forum, AstraZeneca signed a major collaboration agreement with MedCity, a life and health sciences incubation platform from the UK. MedCity is the cluster organization for the world-leading health and life sciences sector in London. Founded by the mayor of London in partnership with the city's Academic Health Science Centers, MedCity fosters international collaboration between biotech, medtech and pharma companies and the capital's world-leading life sciences ecosystem to supercharge innovation, drive inward investment and build skills and talent across the board in the UK. Through this partnership, AstraZeneca iCampus will work together with MedCity and its industrial partners to strengthen interactions between local and overseas healthcare innovation ecosystems. The parties also aim to deepen cooperation on fields including technology sourcing and transfer, capital financing and investment, and partnership network expansion. By accelerating practices for "bringing-in" and "going-global," the goal is to promote innovation exchanges in the global healthcare industry.

AstraZeneca also entered into a partnership with Trendlines, an Israeli innovation incubator, at the forum. As an Israeli healthcare venture capital firm, Trendlines is dedicated to assisting and empowering the development of innovation companies, from technology development to commercial expansion. Leveraging Trendlines' innovation strengths and R&D experience in the medical device industry and Israel's unique industrial incubation model and innovation capabilities, AstraZeneca will partner with Trendlines to promote the incubation of tech innovation firms and the commercialization of new technologies, aiming to fulfill the huge demand in the Chinese and global healthcare markets.

In 2021, AstraZeneca's regional headquarters in northern China was officially inaugurated in Beijing, and the Beijing International Life Science Innovation Campus (Beijing iCampus) and the Community Intelligence Healthcare Innovation Center were also established in the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area. At the Forum, Beijing iCampus also welcomed five high-tech startups to its facilities. They will work together to integrate regional innovation ecosystem resources and empower the local smart healthcare industry.
