Beijing has earmarked a total of 380 million yuan ($55.4 million) for the transportation upgrade project in its sub-center in Tongzhou district since June 2022, according to data released by the Beijing Municipal Finance Bureau.

The municipal financing has helped to streamline routes of 71 buses and improve the bus-subway link in the area, thus making it more convenient for commuters to and from the sub-center.

The upgrades also include the intelligent transformation of bus terminals, bus routes, and vehicles, and the building of an intelligent dispatch network.

The funds have also been tilted toward efforts to improve services such as increasing bus capacities, extending operating hours, and shortening departure intervals.

The ground public transportation in the sub-center has been incorporated into the unified operation and management of the city's public transportation system.
