Beijing's autonomous driving technology has made substantial progress, with the city's test vehicles accumulating over 21.94 million kilometers, holding its national lead, according to a report released Wednesday.
Beijing also continued passenger-carrying tests on autonomous vehicles, with total mileage exceeding 14 million kilometers at the end of last year.
In 2022, Beijing's autonomous driving open road tests entered a large-scale phase, accelerating the commercial application of autonomous driving. The report reveals that 141 vehicles in the high-level autonomous driving demonstration area were granted permission to conduct passenger-carrying tests, with over 98% of volunteer participants rating their test experience as "good or better."
Autonomous delivery vehicles also made significant progress, with test mileage in Shunyi district surpassing 1.66 million kilometers and more than 2.95 million orders delivered. Meanwhile, autonomous delivery vehicles have expanded from regional pilot testing to city-wide integration, with plans to further extend operating ranges and diversify future road testing and commercial demonstration scenarios.
