China is ramping up efforts to promote the green development of its industrial sectors as a step forward in the country's pursuit of low-carbon growth, a senior official said Thursday.

We need to promote green industrial development in an all-round way and make it the focus of new industrialization to create new driving forces of green development, said Xin Guobin, vice minister of industry and information technology, at the 2023 Industry Green Development Conference that kicked off in Guangzhou, south China's Guangdong Province, on Thursday.

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will work faster to promote transformations in high-end industrial structure, low-carbon energy consumption, recycling of resources, clean production process, green product supply and digital manufacturing process to accelerate the green development of industrial sectors, Xin said.

In recent years, China has continuously promoted the green transformation of industrial sectors.

Data released at the three-day conference showed that by the end of April 2023, a total of 3,616 green factories, 267 green industrial parks and 403 green supply chain management enterprises had been established at the national level in China.

For eight consecutive years, the country has consistently held the top position in terms of both production and sales of new energy vehicles worldwide, according to the data.
