State-owned enterprises (SOEs) under the administration of Beijing saw substantial growth in 2022, posting total assets of 15.1 trillion yuan (US$2.12 trillion), revenues of 2.1 trillion yuan, and profits of 15.24 million yuan, according to the Municipal State-Owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission.

The core competitiveness of Beijing's SOEs has continued to grow. The city is home to two Fortune Global 500 companies and boasts 13 companies that are included in China's list of top 500 companies.

In addition, Beijing has nurtured a batch of leading global enterprises in the fields of energy conservation and environmental protection, sewage treatment, and new energy vehicles.

Beijing's SOEs have also played a critical role in preserving people's livelihoods. Statistics indicate that almost all public transport services, 70% of the urban water supply, and all municipal road maintenance in the city are efficiently handled by these enterprises.

Over the years, Beijing-administered SOEs have ramped up their spending in sci-tech innovations, with the investment in core technologies reaching a record high of 52.5 billion yuan in 2022.
