The 2023 China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) plans to introduce a carbon neutrality project to achieve zero carbon emissions at this year's event, organizers said at a global cooperation signing ceremony Monday.

Beijing Capital Group Exhibition & Events, an organizer of the 2023 CIFTIS, signed a letter of intent with China Pacific Insurance (Group) Co., Ltd. and JD.com, vowing to achieve carbon neutrality for CIFTIS. The initiative aims to offset greenhouse gases generated by the event through innovative measures including purchases of carbon assets and carbon credits, and carbon neutrality insurance.

Meanwhile, all CIFTIS participants were urged to champion the carbon-neutral objective and promote a wider societal shift towards a green and low-carbon lifestyle.

In addition, the parties also signed cooperative agreements, pledging capital, technological, product, and service support for CIFTIS.

The 2023 CIFTIS will be held from Sept. 2 to 6 at the National Conference Center and Shougang Park. Focusing on emerging trade trends in services, CIFTIS will host a global summit, exhibitions, conferences, forums, promotion and negotiation events, and other supporting activities.
