The 2023 China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS), which will take place from Sept. 2 to 6 in Beijing, will introduce the latest achievements and technological development in the environmental services sector, the event organizers announced at a press briefing Tuesday.

This year's CIFITS will set up a themed exhibition on environmental services, featuring five sections on areas such as low-carbon energy, carbon neutrality and green technology, climate and low-carbon economy, and circular economy. The exhibition aims to demonstrate China's unremitting efforts to achieve its carbon peak and carbon neutrality goals, and to encourage companies worldwide to innovate and cooperate, said Zhou Yiwei, general manager of Beijing Capital Group Exhibitions & Events.

One of the highlights of the exhibition is a satellite called "Goumang." Named after the god of forestry, spring, and the orient in ancient Chinese mythology, the terrestrial ecosystem observation satellite can monitor and measure carbon elements in ecosystems, which is expected to improve the efficiency and accuracy of carbon sink measurement and boost China's carbon peak and neutrality efforts. Moreover, the satellite will provide data for research in fields such as agricultural forecasting and disaster relief.

In response to the global trend toward energy transition, China's three heavyweights in the oil and gas sector — China National Petroleum Corporation, China Petrochemical Corporation, and China National Offshore Oil Corporation — have been increasing their supply of clean energy in recent years. At this year's event, the trio of oil giants will showcase their efforts for lower emissions via green transformation. They include promoting hydrogen energy, solar energy, wind energy, and other new energy businesses and related services.

The development of new energy vehicle industry will be another highlight at this year's exhibition. Chinese automobile manufacturer Jiangling Motors will showcase the country's first L4-level self-driving cargo van at the exhibition. The latest product can offer round-the-clock service on urban roads with leading L4-level autonomous driving technologies, which will support smart logistics for cities in the future.

A total of 24 global top 500 companies and industry-leading entities will gather at the environmental services exhibition, according to the organizer.

In addition, a series of forums, meetings, and business promotions will be held to facilitate discussions on topics regarding China's carbon peak and carbon neutrality goals, carbon trading, and green cities.
