2023 Golden Panda innovation competition boosts commercialization of research findings

The final of the 2023 Golden Panda Innovation and Entrepreneurship Global Competition concluded in Chengdu Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone, southwest China's Sichuan province, on Nov. 17.

The contest attracted a total of 2,085 innovation projects from around the world, of which 46 were selected for the final, among which five are from the Republic of Korea. A total of 30 projects were awarded prizes of various levels.

The project of large-scale manufacturing of high-end 1550nm InP-Si active photoelectric chip won the first prize in the field of new generation information technology; the project of cross-species tumor gene therapy won the first prize in the field of cutting-edge bio-medicine, and the project of research and development of L4 automatic driving system in urban road scenarios and its application in the field of urban distribution logistics won the first prize in the field of future science and technology.

Other prize-winning projects are also worthy of attention, such as the Brain Computer Interface Application project that focuses on the research of brain computer interface technology and its application in the field of consumer electronics and medical fields, and the core product of the neural interactive bracelet can become the world's first commercial fully flexible nano-electronic chip.

Hosted by Chengdu Municipal People's Government and organized by the Chengdu Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone Administrative Committee, the competition aims to gather the world's superior scientific and technological innovation resources, integrate the global innovation concept, and build an internationally competitive open innovation platform, setting up three frontier fields of new generation information technology, cutting-edge bio-medicine and future science and technology.

The competition organizer will also continue to provide services in policy, finance and training to help relevant projects' industrialization and commercialization in the Chengdu Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone in the foreseeable future.

A side event of the competition was a forum on hi-technology and industry attracting entrepreneurs, researchers and experts sharing their views on better promoting the commercialization of research findings.  

In addition, in order to promote industrial cooperation and accelerate the flow of innovative elements, the organizers invited 32 domestic and foreign high-end enterprises to display their products at the award ceremony.
