The 2023 Economic and Technological Exhibition for Lancang-Mekong Cooperation opened on Dec. 7 at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. 

The event is being hosted by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and organized by the China Chamber of International Commerce. To Ngoc Son, deputy director general of the Asia-Africa Market Department of the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade, and representatives of the delegation from the CCPIT attended the opening ceremony and toured the exhibition, with a specific focus on exploring the displays from Yunnan, Hainan, Hunan and Guangdong provinces.

Following the opening ceremony, the CCPIT held specialized matchmaking sessions, concentrating on the mechatronics and automotive parts industries, as well as electronics, electrical appliances and consumer goods. The sessions aimed to help participating companies better access the broader international market by promoting industrial chain integration. 

During the matchmaking sessions, experts and representatives from the Chinese and Vietnamese governments and businesses shared valuable information. Topics ranged from interpreting favorable policies, analyzing market cases, presenting risk warnings, to offering experiences in exploring the Vietnamese market and applying Vietnamese laws and regulations.

Participating companies commented that the exhibition offers them the opportunity to leverage the geographical proximity and industrial complementarity between China and Vietnam. The collaboration is expected to contribute significantly to economic development in the Greater Mekong Subregion.

Spanning an extensive area of 1,200 square meters, the exhibition is scheduled to run until Dec. 9. More than 60 leading companies from across China are showcasing products from a diverse range of fields such as electronics, vehicles and accessories, agricultural food, intelligent equipment, hardware, and light industry.
