East China's Jiangsu Province, a leading ship exporter of the country, exported various types of ships worth a total of 60.76 billion yuan (about 8.56 billion U.S. dollars) from January to November this year, an increase of 43.4 percent year on year.

The export scale continued to rank first in the country, according to local authorities on Tuesday.

Of the total, Jiangsu's export value of ships in November grew by 89.9 percent year on year to 8.18 billion yuan, marking a record high, said the customs of Nanjing, capital city of Jiangsu.

Jiangsu's Nantong Cosco KHI Ship Engineering Co., Ltd. is one of the most competitive shipyards worldwide. Chen Haoyu, from the company's purchasing department, said that the company has exported and delivered 12 ships, with an export value of 790 million U.S. dollars, since the beginning of this year.

Jiangsu is striving to build a world-class advanced manufacturing cluster in shipbuilding and marine engineering. Nantong, Taizhou, Yangzhou and other cities in the province are giving full play to their resources and geographical advantages to develop sectors such as marine engineering equipment and luxury cruise ships, large oil tankers and container ships, as well as large bulk carriers and ro-ro ships, injecting strong momentum into the province's ship exports.

Statistics show that from January to November this year, the ship export value of Taizhou, Nantong and Yangzhou increased by 40.4 percent, 134.7 percent and 67.4 percent year on year, respectively.
