Chinese devices account for 79% of Russia's total smartphone imports in 2023: Study

Chinese smartphone retailers have beefed up their presence in the Russian market, accounting for 79% of the country's total imports of such products in 2023, a recent study showed.

The total volume of smartphones imported into Russia in 2023 increased by 13% to 29.5 million devices, Russian newspaper Vedomosti reported on Tuesday, citing data collected by Russia's GS Group.

According to the study, the share of Chinese devices in Russia's total smartphone imports reached 79% last year, up 4% from 2022 and 29% from 2021.

In 2023, the largest number of smartphones imported into Russia was from China's Xiaomi, whose market share was nearly 30%. Other Chinese smartphone brands, Tecno and Infinix, respectively ranked second and fourth in terms of shipments to Russia.
