Beijing has tapped into its consumption potential by fostering new types of consumption and expanding traditional consumption methods, according to Pu Xuedong, head of the municipal commerce bureau.
In the first quarter of this year, Beijing intends to host 31 events. By the end of February, eight exhibitions were held, enriching residents' choices for commercial consumption.
The city plans to add about 800 first stores and attract more established brands to set up shops and host new product launch events. A comprehensive service coordination mechanism is in the works to promote the organization of exhibitions. In addition, the time needed for administrative approval for hosting exhibitions has been shortened.
In 2023, Beijing added 2.4 million square meters of commercial spaces, and more than 10 commercial projects are underway this year with a total coverage of 1.4 million square meters. The capital city will step up efforts to build four international consumption experience zones. Construction plans for two of them have already been completed.
In addition, 80 community circles for residents will be built to facilitate everyday needs.
