The country should firmly promote the development of both state-owned enterprises (SOEs) and private industries, said Lu Jin, a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and head of the China National Gold Group Corporation, in an interview with China.org.cn on March 10 during the annual gathering of the CPPCC National Committee, China's top political advisory body, in Beijing.

Lu compared China's SOEs to "pillars" for the national economy due to the fact that they provide important contributions to the high-quality development of the country. He also stressed that all market entities should be allowed to pool their efforts together in order to advance Chinese modernization.

When talking about the private economy, Lu gave an example: "I once visited a company in Hunan province that could produce an excavator every six minutes and an aerial work machine every seven and a half minutes. I was very shocked after visiting the company. Here, we want to praise and applaud outstanding private enterprises."

Lu pointed out that the country should promote the common development of SOEs and private enterprises. "Responsibility and confidence are more precious than gold. Let us work together to focus on innovation and development, run our own enterprises well, and promote the continuous development of China's economy," Lu added.
