Lin Zuoming, President of Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) and Party delegate of the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), said in an exclusive interview with China.org.cn that flight tests for China's carrier-based aircraft are proceeding smoothly.

Lin said AVIC participated in the flight tests process and was kept informed of all the latest developments. He said: "Maybe some media have already revealed that our carrier-based aircrafts had done touch-and-go landing, this is a very important phase. I can tell you, the process went very smoothly and without any problems."

The AVIC president also said that piloting carrier-based aircraft is one of the most dangerous jobs in the world. But currently the training is very safe. He believes Chinese pilots are very skilled, and "will not fall so hard."

"But aviation requires a spirit of self-sacrifice," he continued, "So they may encounter challenges here and there. Nonetheless, as we can see from current training, our pilots' skills are good in every aspect."

Lin added that the carrier-based aircraft family will go through phases of development: in the future, in addition to the carrier-based J-15, they will also develop carrier-based helicopters, Air Early Warning (AEW) and commuter transport aircraft.
