I live in Chilembwe village with my grandmother. My mother and father died when I was small. Nobody ever told me what they died of, and I never asked.

I have no memory of my mother. I was so young I couldn't even walk yet.

After that happened, I stayed for a while in my aunt's house. My father sometimes visited us and brought us food.

My father died when I was six.

Now my grandmother takes care of me. She prepares the food and every day we eat with my brother. She also reminds me when I have to take my medicines.

She is a very important person to me. That's why my first picture is a picture of her. [© Brendan Bannon/MSF]
