Marine rescue authorities in south China's Guangdong province said Friday that seven fishermen have been rescued seven days after their boat went missing in the sea off the city of Zhuhai.

The seven, with ages from 16 to 28, were saved at 4 p.m. Thursday in the waterways of Qiongzhou off the city of Zhanjiang, said a spokesman with the marine affairs bureau in Zhuhai.

They sailed off to reap oysters last Thursday, and went missing under foggy weather. After running out of fuel, the wooden boat floated until they were found, the spokesman said.

The boat driver, surnamed Wu, said they drank sea water and ate moss to stay alive. "We just dehydrated a little," he said.
