A police officer cut his abdomen in a public prosecutors building in central Henan Province to protest against injustice after he was removed from his job for allegedly involving in a brawl.
Wang Junsheng's ex-wife looks after him in hospital after his suicide attempt.
Wang Junsheng, 39, entered the Fangcheng County Prosecutors Building yesterday morning, holding a knife and shouting: "I don't want to live anymore." He then stabbed his belly in suicide, the Nanfang Daily reported today.
He was sent to a hospital immediately and is now in stable condition, said Liang Zhimin, director of the prosecutors office.
Wang was accused of injuring others in a fight about 10 years ago and was out on bail. He was waiting for criminal prosecution because his relatives kept harassing local authorities in order to restore his position, Liang said.
"His sister-in-law poisoned herself in front of the prosecutors and his sister tried to jump from the fourth floor of our building. We have to treat his case with great caution," he said.
But Wang's family dismissed Liang's allegations, saying he was not present in the fight and that Wang was framed because he led villagers to demand compensation for their lost farmland, which annoyed the local authorities.
The Nanfang Daily said Fangcheng County prosecutors are now investigating the case.
