Vice Premier Wang Qishan met with overseas delegates from the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO), which began its 37th annual meeting in Beijing on Wednesday.
Wang said China welcomes IOSCO in organizing its annual meeting in China for the first time.
He said the current global economy situation is still complicated, and faces many challenges in securing economic revival and ensuring employment.
"IOSCO's annual meeting is of great significance in discussing cooperation regarding global capital market reform and supervision. IOSCO is expected to bring its role into full play, promote cooperation among all countries and gradually reform and improve standards for the international securities industry," Wang said.
Wang said that although China's capital market has enjoyed rapid development in recent years, the country still needs to learn from the successful practices used in the international capital market, strengthen market regulations, speed up innovation and open up to the world in a "positive and stable way."
The delegates said they are willing to strengthen communication and cooperation with China regarding capital market development, reform, supervision and innovation.
