E-mail Xinhua, March 20, 2013The Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee on Wednesday announced the appointments of new Party chiefs for five provinces.
Zhou Benshun has been appointed secretary of the CPC Hebei Provincial Committee, replacing Zhang Qingli.
Zhou, a native of Xupu County in central China's Hunan Province, was born in February 1953. He is currently a member of the CPC Central Committee.
Since November 2001, Zhou had served as police chief of Hunan Province and a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee.
In March 2008, he became the secretary-general of the Commission for Political and Legal Affairs of the CPC Central Committee.
Zhang Qingli is now secretary-general and a vice chairman of the 12th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the country's political advisory body.
Wang Xiankui has been appointed secretary of the CPC Heilongjiang Provincial Committee, replacing Ji Bingxuan.
Wang, a native of Cangxian County, Hebei Province, was born in July 1952. He is currently a member of the CPC Central Committee.
Wang had served as the Party chief of the Railway Bureau in Mudanjiang City, Heilongjiang Province, Party chief of the Railway Bureau in Hohhot City in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and a member of the leading Party group in the Railways Ministry.
Since April 2003, he served as deputy secretary of the CPC provincial committees in Gansu and Jiangxi provinces. In November 2010, Wang became deputy Party chief and governor of Heilongjiang Province.
Ji Bingxuan is now vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the 12th National People's Congress (NPC), the top legislature.
Qiang Wei has been appointed secretary of the CPC Jiangxi Provincial Committee, replacing Su Rong.
Qiang, a native of Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province, was born in March 1953. He is currently a member of the CPC Central Committee.
Before taking up his post as deputy secretary of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee in March 2001, Qiang had worked as Party chief of Beijing Chemical Works, secretary of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Communist Youth League, Party chief of Shijingshan District of Beijing and a member of the Standing Committee the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee.
In 2007, Qiang became Party chief of northwest China's Qinghai Province.
Su Rong is now a vice chairman of the 12th CPPCC National Committee.
Guo Gengmao has been appointed secretary of the CPC Henan Provincial Committee, replacing Lu Zhangong.
Guo, a native of Jizhou County, Hebei Province, was born in December 1950. He is currently a member of the CPC Central Committee.
Guo served as deputy Party chief and mayor of Xingtai City, Hebei Province, before becoming vice governor of Hebei in January 1998 and governor in January 2007.
In March 2008, he became the acting governor and deputy Party chief of Henan Province. In January 2009, he became governor and deputy Party chief of Henan.
Lu Zhangong is now a vice chairman of the 12th CPPCC National Committee.
Xu Shousheng has been appointed secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, replacing Zhou Qiang.
Xu, a native of Rudong County, Jiangsu Province, was born in January 1953. He is currently a member of the CPC Central Committee.
Before becoming a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee in December 2000, Xu served as deputy Party chief and governor of Lianyungang City, Jiangsu Province, and then Party chief of Suqian City in Jiangsu.
From September 2001 to January 2007, he held posts as a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Gansu Provincial Committee, vice governor of Gansu, deputy Party chief of Gansu and acting governor of Gansu. In January 2007, he became governor of Gansu Province.
In May 2010, he became deputy Party chief and acting governor of Hunan Province. Four months later, Xu became governor of Hunan Province.
Zhou Qiang is now president of the Supreme People's Court.
