Hao Peng was appointed acting governor of northwest China's Qinghai Province on Thursday.

The appointment was made at the second meeting of the Standing Committee of the 12th Qinghai Provincial People's Congress, the local legislative body.

Hao, 53, had served as vice secretary of the Tibetan regional committee of the Communist Party of China for more than six years before being appointed as deputy Party chief of neighboring Qinghai Province this month.

The resignation of former governor Luo Huining, now serving as the Party chief of Qinghai, was approved at the meeting.
