A soldier-turned-father from a village in Sichuan Province, China, built a life-size replica tank for his son.

Measuring 4.5 meters long, 1.6 meters wide and 2.1 meters high, the tank was built by Jian Lin, a 31-year-old father who served two years in the Chinese navy. "I did this to fulfill my promise of building a toy for my son, and also to make one of my dreams come true, " Jian said.

The tank was built with a new steel plate on the outside. Its wheel was taken from an agricultural machine, the two tracks were bought at the cost of 5,600 yuan, and the engine was a 120 horsepower diesel engine. It can reach speed of up to 30 kilometers per hour, according to Jian.

"It was modeled after China's 63A amphibious tank, with a weight of nearly 3 tons, and a cost of 40,000 yuan," Jian said.

It took Jian two months to build the tank. He served for two years maintaining airplanes in the Chinese navy in the coastal city Qingdao.

The turret of the tank can turn around fully and the height of the cannon can also be adjusted. The cannon can even fire, making a sound resembling that of a real shell.

The camouflaged tank has a door added on its side for Jian's six-year-old son to climb in and out. The son now sits in the tank after school every day.
