Senior Chinese official Wang Qishan has urged central Party and government organs to stick to strict self-management and set an anti-graft example for other departments.

Wang, secretary of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) of the Communist Party of China (CPC), made the remarks recently while inspecting Party work at various central Party and government organs.

Wang noted that the country's anti-graft fight remains in an "austere and complicated" phase, and Party organizations of various central organs should realize the current situation and voluntarily shoulder the "political responsibility" of building a clean Party.

According to Wang, these Party organizations must improve their work styles, tighten discipline, intensify punishment for corrupt behavior, and continue to eradicate formalism, bureaucracy, hedonism and extravagance in order to forge stronger ties with the people.

"Discipline should be tightened in politics, organizations, finance, work and daily life," he said, adding that penalties must be resolutely handed to officials who commit wrongdoings so as to deter the spread of corruption.

Wang called on leading Party officials at central organs to analyze the ongoing anti-graft fight frequently and report their anti-corruption efforts to the CCDI and the CPC Central Committee on a regular basis.

They were also told to sort out tips from public whistleblowers about misconduct by officials and map out methods to deal with such cases.
