A supermoon is the coincidence of a full moon or a new moon with the closest approach the Moon makes to the Earth on its elliptical orbit, resulting in the largest apparent size of the lunar disk as seen from Earth.

There will be another two chances to watch this phenomenon again, which will be on August 10 and September 9.

And the supermoon in August will be the biggest and brightest one this year, since the distance between the Moon and the Earth will be 1389 kilometers shorter than the one in July.
